August is the month that marks the height of summer. Yet, while green is still the dominant colour of the Crane, the cycle of life is starting to close for many of the local species.

Anita and Keith Martin (borsuk) > The Large White is the biggest of the three white butterflies that can be found along the Crane. This August specimen is looking a little bit dog-eared.

Anita and Keith Martin (borsuk) > Young shieldbugs pass through several moults before becoming adults. This appears to be a mature nymph form of the Hawthorn Shieldbug, Acanthosoma haemorrhoidale.
Anita and Keith Martin (borsuk) > August normally provides an abundance of brilliant summer days where puffy white clouds pump through an azure sky, here reflected in the waters of the inner lagoon at Crane Park Island.
