November seems like a lost month in limbo. Autumnal leaves still cling to trees but few plants remain in flower. The Crane falls quiet and awaits the onset of the coldest corner of the year.

Anita and Keith Martin (borsuk) > November trees are often still bearing good amounts of leaves, at least until the first severe seasonal gales. Views open out as canopies begin to thin.

Anita and Keith Martin (borsuk) > A gaze up into the canopy of a young Hornbeam tree sees a mosaic of fading leaves, turning yellow and then chestnut as they prepare to fall to ground.
Anita and Keith Martin (borsuk) > A careful search of the Crane will reveal some surprising plants still in flower this month. This Dog's Mercury in Mereway Nature Park is still in flower, albeit barely.

Anita and Keith Martin (borsuk) > November sun is precious and at its best mid afternoon as it pokes its way through the shrinking canopy, casting shafts of silver light over the remaining herbs of the understorey.
Anita and Keith Martin (borsuk) > The weak late autumn sun catches a decaying leaf on an unidentified tree in Crane Park, possibly a type of maple.
